Serology

Serology is often the cornerstone of vaccine evaluation because most vaccine studies are linked to serological readouts and most existing correlates of protection are serological ones. Moreover, the field is evolving:  novel assays and methods complement the  existing suite of ELISA and functional assays.

VaxxCellence can advise on:

  • Assay qualification/validation
  • (Multiplex) ELISA
  • Antibody avidity
  • Neutralizing antibodies
  • Fc functionality / Systems Serology

Cell-mediated immunity

Beyond serology, there is often a need for further analysis, often guided by the specific mode of action. Cell-mediated immunity (CMI) is measured using different cellular assays. This can range from T cell assays such as ELISPOT and ICS to more innate immune analysis.

VaxxCellence can advice on assay development and data interpretation:

  • ELISPOT
  • Intracellular cytokine staining (ICS)
  • T cell or B cell Receptor repertoire analysis
  • Cytokines in supernatant
  • High-dimensional flow cytometry (NK cells, DC, monocytes…)
  • Data analytics

How can Omics approaches support clinical development?

The novel frontier in clinical evidence generation is focusing on so-called omics, leveraging the novel methods for high-dimensional data generation combined with advanced data analytics. Whilst the capacity for data generation is now near-endless, judicious selection is required, as well as a distinction between hypothesis-generating datasets and data that address specific pre-formulated questions. The methods and questions that are relevant and where VaxxCellence  can advice can be summarized as follows:

  • Transcriptomics
  • Proteomics
  • Metabolomics
  • Data integration
  • How to connect this with endpoints?
  • Which samples required?
